The IM-5 Series Inverted Microscopes from Optika Microscopes are engineered for advanced research and clinical applications. Offered by Apex Scientific in South Africa, these inverted microscopes provide an exceptional 24 mm field of view—the largest in their class. This wide viewing diameter allows for more natural sample inspection and helps reduce eye strain during extended sessions.

 

Multiple Observation Methods Available

The IM-5 Series supports a variety of observation techniques, including brightfield, phase contrast, and darkfield. Switching between modes is quick and seamless, giving you the flexibility to examine different sample types with a single device.

 

Functional Köhler Condenser

This model includes a fully adjustable Köhler condenser that rotates out of the optical path to accommodate larger vessels. Whether you’re working with slides, Petri dishes, or flasks, this feature makes it easier to maintain working distance and adapt your setup. Choose from optimized objectives such as IOS LWD W-PLAN and U-PLAN F PH to ensure sharp images and field flatness up to F.N. 25.

 

Live Cell Imaging and Real-Time Observation

Live cell imaging is one of the key strengths of the IM-5 Series. These inverted microscopes allow you to track cellular movement and molecular events as they happen. Whether you’re recording time-lapse footage or observing processes in real-time, this system captures even subtle changes with clarity.

 

Precision and Environmental Control

You can pair the IM-5 with an Eppendorf Micromanipulation system to achieve fine control for cell injection or patch-clamp applications. Meanwhile, light intensity is easily adjustable from the front panel, ensuring consistent experimental conditions. To promote energy efficiency, an ECO mode automatically powers down the unit after 20 minutes of inactivity.

Sturdy and incredibly reliable, it is equipped with all the main controls in ergonomic position and with long lasting LED illumination to provide over 20 years of use.

 

LED Fluorescence Microscope

IM-5FLD – Phase contrast, brightfield and darkfield (dry) LED fluorescence trinocular inverted microscope, with freely configurable lenses according to customer’s preferences, FN 24 high eyepoint, infinity corrected optical system, coaxial focusing, mechanical stage, Abbe condenser and powerful, uniform, white color temperature 8 W X-LED8. The 4-position epi-fluorescence attachment is powered by extremely powerful 5 W LEDs fluorescence illuminator and combined with blue, green and UV excitation filters for the visualization. LED fluorescence ensures unparalleled convenience eliminating warm-up/cool-down times and all the inconveniences related lamp replacement and adjustment. Sturdy and incredibly reliable, it is equipped with all the main controls in ergonomic position and with long lasting, efficient LED illumination to provide over 20 years of use.

 

Metallurgical Microscope

IM-5MET – Industrial and materials science inverted microscope especially designed for opaque specimens (including metals microstructure investigation and studies such as grain size, grain boundaries, phases, transformation, inclusions, and non-metals, as well as sample preparation and treatment) in metallography labs. Freely configurable lenses according to customer’s preferences, FN 24 high eyepoint, infinity corrected optical system, coaxial focusing, mechanical stage, and epi-illumination attachment powered by halogen 12 V/100 W with brightness control. Sturdy and incredibly reliable, it is equipped with all the main controls in ergonomic position and with long lasting, efficient LED illumination to provide over 20 years of use.
